Bracelet, nato, mesh, zulu, perlon or just the standard leatherstrap?
My tiny wrists are not made for bracelets. I’m tired of removing all the removable links and still have a loose and woobly bracelet. And the comfort ain’t good either. Titanium, stainless steel or ceramic, I don’t like them. I need something flexible, soft and easy to change. I need the nato!
I have read some posts around in forums where questions about what to wear with the different types of watches. To suit up your diver with leather is apparently a crime.. If you choose the diver/leather combo, the leather will be destroyed. Period.
Do you have to dive with the diver? For me the most beautiful watches are divers, and aviators. I don’t dive and I don’t fly. Is it wrong for me to wear an aviator without riveted leatherstrap?
I am tempted to og for the dull «do you always drive offroad when you have a 4x4?», but i won’t. Do i think I’m playing for my favourite team when i suit up in their jersey? And am I allowed just to watch their away-matches when using the away-kit?
While we’re in the mood, let’s talk about the lovely perlon. The most comfortable of them all. What is nicer than dress up your favourite watch with a matching perlon? The colors, the patterns and the softness. Perlon is something that people either like or very much dislike. Not paying the watch the respect it deserves, a girly look on a toolwatch or childrens accesories. Well, I’m young at heart, I cherish my girly sides and I’m certainy paying respect to my watches!
With all the different natos out there I can easily match my watches to my wardrobe, or the opposite. I can choose from day to day, from hour to hour, tendonitis is not a problem caused by a kilo of steel around my wrist and the watches safety is covered. If a pin breaks, the nato will still be fastened to the other pin. Awesome.
There is something about placing all my natos on the table. Soft nylon, ballistic nylon or leather. 1mm thickness or the heavy 2,2mm? I line them up, going from left to right, checking the colors, the tones, my mood and my matching socks. It can be hard to choose when there is only three left from the 26 I lined up. This is where my better half steps in and chooses. She likes natos, but the reason she chooses is that she is tired of waiting 25 minutes everytime I’m changing straps…
I love my natos and perlons, and will wear the with my divers, toolwatches, aviators and dress watches. There is an ancient saying from St. Etienne that goes like this: "Never bring a perlon to a watchfight". Well tool-boys, shall i bring my faded-pink or my misty-yellow perlon? The game is on!
I almost forgot one important thing about perlons. Never change to or from a perlon on a bathroom with tiles…Ever!
